My search Fu is weak today, I can't locate the original thread. In it i mentioned that I had a Lowrance I Way 500 Nav in my Van.
A co-worker is taking a trip over the 4th to PA. They asked if it was possible to borrow it. I said sure as I wasn't going anywhere that I hadn't been before. It's a portable that plugs into the cig/pwr port with a suction cup for attaching the monitor to the windshield.
To give 'em time to get used to it, I installed it (took 2 minutes) in their car last Thursday. Their car was broken into that evening and the Nav was stolen. I never asked, but they live in a rough neigborhood. They weren't saavy enough to take it inside overnight. No insurance either!
My concern is that there are addresses stored in the address book. Home alarm systems have been activated at 2 of those addresses. No one got in, but they are obviously using the information.

Therefore I caution anyone with a portable GPS to not put personal addresses in the address book.

That really sucks! Bad enough losing your GPS but having to worry about the stored addresses is just as bad. I think the countries that cut off thieves hands may be on to something!:^

I agree only I would cut off not only their hands but also give them a good castration too. And that is being easy on them.

Re: Car nav

I'd wait on them to find my address and come attempt to break in to my house. They would have big holes in them and I'd have my GPS back!!!
