Hey guys, I have an old motor that still runs great! However it only runs great when its wide open, when its half throttle or any wheres else it sputter real bad. I figure its time for a good carb cleaning and adjustment. Can any one direct me to a good tune up kit for my motor?

And is there anything else I should purchase to help keep my motor running strong?

Also what are the "ear muff" called that you can buy so you don't have to put your motor in a barrel of water every time?

If it only runs wide open then it's getting too much fuel for the amount of air that's passing through the carb at less than wide open. Is the choke sticking?

Yep sounds like it's fat at anything less than wide open, float may be fuel logged, FYI basic carb kit usually doesn't include float.
"Muffs" an apparatus designed to adapt a regular garden hose to supply cooling water to your lower unit, usually 2 suction cups on a spring loaded wire that straddles the lower and placed the cups over the intake openings.

i would reccomend the barrel over the muff,,,making sure you have adequate water supply,,if your local evinrude dealer has an older carb kit, evinrude brand,it may come with a float and valve /seat,,,mine did,,,could have some junk in the low speed needle valve oriface,or could be sucking air around the packing,i would try giving a rebuild on it,,,also check your fuel/ ignition syncronization,if you dont have a manual, get one,it will tell you where your line up points are for sync

Well I;m having a real hard time finding parts for my motor. Does anyone know a good wedsite that sell old evinrude parts?

Like a rebuild kit? shop evinrude list a rebuild kit but do not carry any more.

man I feel dumb... I always forget about Iboat....
thanks man

Im also wondering if it would be a fuel pump. If you go to fuel pump under Iboats, they dont offer one.

Is there any way of checking the pump? Pressure testing?
