I HAVE A 7.5 FLEETWIN. 1956 MODEL.

I HAVE COMPLETED A TUNE UP AND CARB REBUILD, THE MOTOR RUNS GREAT,HOWEVER BOTH NEEDLE VALVES ARE COMPLETLY SEATED, WHEN I MOVE THE VALVES OFF THE SEATED POSITION THE MOTOR RUNS ROUGH.

WHY? ANY COMENTS APPRECIATED, OR SHOULD I JUST LEAVE THE NEEDLE VALVES AS IS, CLOSED POSITION

Re: CARB ADJUSTMENTS

I doubt they are in fact fully seated if it runs at all well.

They may feel that way due to the packing and nut wearing the shaft "thin" in the area it runs well.

If you mean they hit the stops and won't turn anymore, the levers sometimes are set on the shaft with a tapered device that can be loosened and secured, allowing the range to be adjusted.

If the packing thing is the cause, replace the packing, and lube it on assembly. If the needle is actually reduced in size in the packing area, you should get a new needle and packing.
