Hey guys
Well I was out on the water today with my nightmare of a boat and it ran pretty good for about 2hours but im still having an issue when I put it in gear and start to give it gas she bogs down and stalls but when I open the butterflies with ths linkage she runs good
So should I gather the adjustments are off ?
Also when I stopped to see why this was still happeing and went to start boat the control wouldnt go into neutral or reverse so after an hour of sitting on the water trying to figure out why I finally just grabbed the lever and pulled
Pretty sure I broke something inside the control but I was atleast able to get boat started and back to land
Now like I said Im gathering the control box is shot could I use a 2 lever control box instead of the one lever
I have a 75 115hp she has the 2 cables do you know If that setup would work
Thank You

Yeah...you could use a two lever control Dave...but then you'd have to move the key switch to the dash. Probably just better off opening up the control and see what's happening in there. Parts are still available and you'd be much better off staying with the single lever control.

Thank You very much
Is the single lever better then the 2 lever just courious because
I think I broke it pretty bad doesnt want to lock into gear nothing just didnt have a choice being way out on the water
What do you think about my other question?

Which control do you have Dave? Is it the original 1975? If so, these are fairly easy to dismantel and take a peek inside. Is the warm up lever more to the bottom of the control or is it mounted on top?

As for the other problem, not knowing what you have done so far to try and cure it, it could be carb problem, sync and link, ignition.....

Have you got good spark to all the cylinders?

Re: carb and control box issue 1975 115hp

This procedure synchronizes the timing with the throttle plates. A good service manual will have the procedure in it. Have you checked the timing?

Look on the starboard side of the motor. The throttle cam should be laying near the roller on the upper carb. On the cam is a reference mark. As this mark comes into contact with the roller, the throttle plates should just start to open and the reference mark should be centered on the roller. If this is not the case, it would be a good idea to do the sync and link from a manual or have a trusted wrench do it for you.
