just wanted to double check with you guy's.<br />i had my boat out and it ran not bad.<br />3rd time out it would warm up i get on plane then it loses rpm and does'nt sound good.<br />put it in nuetral then go it would rev up then lose rpm seconds later.<br />it's a 55 horse evinrude 1972 with a jetco jet.<br />i bought it off a guy who said it ran great.<br />it looks very clean no burnt paint.<br />there is no filter but looks like one would go in the box on carbs.<br />do i need a filter?<br />and does it sound like i should rebuil or clean carbs?<br />one last thing,there is a screw type thing on the throttle control assembly what is it?<br /><br />thanks to any who reply.

There is no filter application. <br />First test should be compression, second test, spark to all cylinders, If both tests are OK, then overhaul the carbs.
