carb butterfly valves question

I have an 85 force 125. Changing the throttle does not change the position of the butterfly valves. The only way to get them to move is with the choke button. Shouldn't opening the throttle to the wide open position make the butterfly valves go horizontal. There is no mechanical linkage that allows this. I'm confused

Re: carb butterfly valves question

The front butterflys are for choke only.
The second set is for acceleration.(look in the carb)
They open when the throttle is pushed forward.

Re: carb butterfly valves question

sorry but I believe there are two sets. One is called the choke shutter which is on the mouth of the carb and then there is the throttle itself which is behind the main jets located by the throat of the carb. Look again and you can see it move if you just move the vertical link between the two carbs. Might need a flashlight to see it properly.

Re: carb butterfly valves question

I'm losing my mind... no matter how I adjust the linkage, I can't stop the dieseling affect.. if I understand it right. The butterfly valves won't go completely vertical to kill the engine and at full throttle they won't go completely horizontal to max speed. I just don't see how I can get it to do that
