Can I use any off the shelf carb cleaner spray on my 1986 Mariner 50 hp? Will using gumout or something like that be bad for the motor?
Injecting anything but a 2 cycle fuel mix, a fogging oil, or a decarboning fluid with lubricant made for outboards into yer engine will hurt it.
There's no functioning carb parts that will improve function that you can get to without teardown anyway.
If your carbs need service, take em off and service them.
