I removed the carbs on my mercury 650 (65hp) so I could clean them. When I was dismantling the top carb following the manuals instructions, the plug for the main discharge nozzle pretty much disintergrated...at least the thread did. I was going to drill it off, but can't find a place that sells a spare. My question is, is it ok to soak the carb in cleaner with this plug(and discharge nozzle) still in place? i was able to remove jet, idle tube and idle pin. Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: carb cleaning

That will e fine a parts washer is better because the manufactures coat the carbs with a protectant and carb cleaner takes it off parts washing fluid does not. If you are looking for a used carb I have one

Good Luck!! :)
