Re: carb cleaning

also I should add that the carb is quite clean...I had it cleaned three weeks ago but I made the stupid mistake of running the engine on really old petrol since then....

Re: carb cleaning

If were just cleaned 3 weeks ago, blow out the passages with air and run it. Your only concern would be open jets, passages, etc. Check your filters.

Yep, blow them all out... you shouldn't have any real build-up yet.

Re: carb cleaning

I clean nearly everything in my shop with laquer thinner and acetone. Great carb cleaner. Just dont get it on plastic parts. But as stated, you probably just need to blow everything out good. If you dont have access to compressed air, those air cans that you clean computers with will do.

Re: carb cleaning

Don't spray carb cleaner in the carb throat, it goes directly into the intake and in the cylinders and can wash away your lubricant. What I've done to clean the carbs of old sludge is: Mix 1 pint of laquer thinner in six gallons of gas/oil mix and run your outboard until you've used up your fuel. The thinner will go in the bowl, orifices and jets disolving the sludge.
