Removed carb and cleaned with carb cleaner. Outboard is a 2001 15hp Mariner. Starts with a little help with the throttle but will not idle and runs rough with a lot of smoke. Did not mess with idle speed mixture setting. Did not use new gaskets. Will have to order a kit. Could the carb not be tight enough against the manifold? The gas is about a week old. There is Gumout carb. and fuel injector cleaner mixed in with the two cylce oil.

Re: Carb cleaning

Fixed it myself, did not install the choke assembly correctly. There was also a bind in the linkage cause by being on the inside of the fuel tubing from the gas cup before it goes into the carb. The linkage works alot better attached to the other side of that tubing connection. Purrs like a kitten at idle.
