Carb float stuck

Any way to correct a stuck carb float without taking it apart? My cylinders are arranged vertically and I would have to dismantle the top of the motor housing to get to the top carb, which is the one with the stuck float.
I was thinking about trying Seafoam, but I'm not sure how it will fare in a 51 year old motor... Any other ideas?

Re: Carb float stuck

Seafoam or a rap with a rubber mallet are two slim possible solutions. The more probable solution is to dismantle the carb and clean/replace the parts that are causing the float to be stuck.

Why be afraid to take the top cover off? Four little nuts and maybe the choke rod.. Get some hands on experience on that fine engine. I you got a classic like that YOU GOT to be able to brag about the things you fix on it. Jay Leno gets his hands dirty does he not?

I agree with thefairlaneman its not a difficult fix. Chance are the float is old, leaky and has swollen a bit. Easy and cheap fix.
