i have a 1988 bayliner capri 1750 with a Ford 2.3. When I take it out it starts up and runs beautifully but if I’m out on the lake and the engine it up to temp after running for a while I’ll shut it off and it won’t start. I noticed that the carb has fuel pooled ontop of the butterfly’s. Looks like it if flooding. I put new float needle and seat in. Can someone help me out?

What is happening is fuel percolation. The heat from the engine rises when the engine is turned off. Try opening the engine cover when the boat is stopped, remove the flame arrestor and watch if the same thing happens. Adding extra vents to the engine cover might help. The boiling point for today’s excuse for gasoline is the main problem. Are you using non ethanol fuel or is it available in your area?

run the engine at an idle with the hatch open for about 3 minutes before you shut down. if that clears the problem, you have fuel percolation like Kenny is telling you.
