carb.&gagues question????

Hi,<br /> My son was trying to rebuild the carbs. him self on a 1985 115 evinrude v-4 vro but couldnt finish so good ole dad had to finish it. my 1st question is there are 2-2 barrel carbs. 1 of the carbs has a arm on the side and contols both of the carbs butterfly plates. does the 1 with the arm go on the bottom or the top. and sencond i am replacing all gauges and on the boat it has a heat gauge with a c for cold and a h for hot. can i replace it with once with numbers on it.

Hi tex I hope this helps , I just took a look at the carb linkage set-up on my engine if its the same ? the lower carb has a shaft passing right through it connecting to the manual choke button on one side, and on the other the linkage to the upper carb . also the upper carb has the plate with the throttle cam on it . plus if you have electric choke fitted this also fits onto the upper carb link feeding down to lower carb [hope this makes sense] good luck
