Trying to find out what year and horsepower motor a carb with OMC part number 397340 stamped on it came off of.

I'm reasonably sure it is a V4 looper, but would appreciate it if someone could narrow that down a bit for me.

Also, if you do know what motor these carbs came off of, do you think a set of them would work on my '86 Evinrude 140?

Thanks,

You appear to have a winner there.

The p/n you provided is for the carburetor body (not a complete carb), so it's difficult to track back to which specific hp motor that they came off of. But, that carb body was used in 1986 model V4 loopers and V8's. Just check their jetting against the parts catalog for the engine you want to use it on.

-John

Thanks John,

Does the diameter of the carb barrel vary between the V4s? I guess I'm a little concerned that if the carb body is off a smaller V4 (eg 120 hp), the barrel might be narrower and result in poor performance on my 140. If it is just a matter of replacing jets, that is easy enough.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

The carb is matched to the throttle body. If you use the throttle body it was made for then it will work.

Good luck!
