Carb Issue

I have a 1995 Caravelle 1750 with the 3.0, 135hp mercruiser engine. I had my boat winterized and just took it out for the 1st time this season. The boat ran great, but would not idle at all. I would put it in neutral and it would sputter and die. I have a feeling that the carb may need an adjustment, but do not know what screw to adjust. Any ideas or photos would help, thanks.

Re: Carb Issue

Start with a full tune up, then look into the condition of the gas and fuel system. Carbs just don't "go out of adjustment" sitting over the winter. If adjustments correct your idle, then you will have only masked the problem temporarily.

Get a factory manual if you will be doing your own work, they are priceless.

Re: Carb Issue

I may have left out part of the puzzle, the mechanic messed with the throttle cable because a prior mechanic had installed it wrong. I believe it is just the idle adjustment screw, but am not sure exactly which screw it is. I am pretty sure it is the one by the throttle linkage. Do you know what my idle RPM's should be at, around 650 or so?

Much thank you's, I just have to wait until Saturday to get back to the boat to adjust it.
