Hello
use no glue on any carb gasket. carefully meassure the check balls you remove. some carbs had a check ball under the accelerator pump. all 2bbl carbs had a check ball under a pin and sping that is located under the venturi cluster. make a careful note as to float settings before you dissasemble it as well.
good luck and keep posting

If the float is a composite, instead of brass, it's hard to get it right if the float is saturated or is heavily cracked. Normally a brass float replacement is available. I know both Rochester and Holley have Brass replacements.
