Carb Kit

I have a 1986 Mercury 6hp. Does anyone know if you can get a carb kit to increase it to a 9.9hp?<br />Thanks in advance.

I don't think a carb kit will increase from a 6 to 9.9hp. I think the difference is in a different carb AND exhaust ports. If you find out different, let us know! I have a '82 7.5 merc that uses the same engine as the 9.9 and would love to find an easy way to "pump it up".<br /><br />Good luck!

The difference between a 9.9 and 15 HP Force engine is the carb jets and the reed stops. Whether that's the same with a 7.5 and 9.9 is debatable. If it's the same engine components for both chances are that the carb jets and reed stops are all you need.

The 6hp and the 9.9 are not the same block, or same displacement, so in short it cant be done that easily.
