Hi all,

I posted alot not that long ago about fuel overflowing from my carbs which when stripped appeared to be spotlessly clean and in good nick..

I have an old evinrude here (spares)with similiar carbs on it, so I pulled them down and took the floats/needles and seats and put the lot into the leaking Johnson carbs, (after visually inspecting to make sure they are the same..)

anyway, long story short, it worked, the float chambers are full and now I can't squeeze the primer bulb, it can't force fuel past the needles anymore.. (and I squeezed so hard I cracked the primer bulb)

I think the problem was that the previous owner must have pulled the carbs down and messed with the float level setting, (bent the tabs away from standard) resulting in them not closing the needle with any force..

Either that or the seats and/or needles were bad, but I don't believe that to be the case as they look identical to the ones I replaced them with.

anyway, its all good now, and its one less thing for me to worry about, now I just have to fix my internally leaking manual release on the tilt/trim (motor slowly goes down), and then the motor is perfect and ready to go for its first long trip....

can't wait to finially get out and do some fishing..

Thankyou schematic and others who provided insight into possible reasons for my problem.

rgds

Frank
