Carb Linkage. Is this the way it suppose to be? /w picture

Motor: 1984 65hp Commercial<br />Problem:<br /><br />When the twist throttle is turned all the way to WOT<br /><br />I keep it wide open and i can move the carb linkage about a quarter inch. I included a visual aid so you know what i mean..<br /><br />Is this normal? <br /><br />Thanks for putting up with my lame questions..<br />Im bound to learn more sooner or later.......<br /><br />

Look at the side of the carbs. The throttle plate shaft that sticks out thru the carb will have a spring pin through it....same side as the cam. At wide open throttle, the pin should be vertical meaning the throttle plate is flat inside the carb throat. You can also look into the carb throat and verify this. If it is flat, then the sync and link is good at least for this.

or in lamemans terms, <br /><br />at WOT the butterflys should be horizontal?
