Have a 78 evinrude 35hp Runs great only with electronic choke held on, have tried new gas, tore carb apart and cleaned. Out of options other than rebuilding.

Next time you run it and it starts to die, give the primer bulb a squeeze or two and see if it picks back up. Possible the fuel pump is going.
