Bought this 1966 95hp merc, was in storage for thirty years, has good spark and compresion. Put in new water pump.Took carbs off tore apart and cleaned and put back together with new gasket kits and new floats, also did same to fuel pumps. Now the motor starts and idles good and goes like snot, but after about 20 minutes it starts to bog down to the point that it is at full throttle and barely staying running. If you throttle it back close to idle it will quit and good luck getting it to go again. But let it sit for half an hour and it is back to normal and then before long it starts to act up again. Cap and rotor are in good shape and I checked the point gap and it seems okay. Any ideas. thanks Bryan

Re: carb problem???

I do not think it is a carb problem because I have pretty much the same problem with my 150 hp motor. The carbs on mine where just rebuilt not to long ago. The motor is not getting enough fuel. Check the fuel line that has the primer bulb check the primer bulb, and the fuel filter. On mine the bulb was bad and the I had a crack at the tip of the hose where it goes onto the tank. I found that out because I heard it sucking air through there. I will let you know if that is what fixed mine when I take it back to the lake.
