Run it on rabbit ears and revs out of control but when I put my hand over one certain carb it idles down and purrs like a kitten and sounds perfect. I did lync and sync and made sure plates are closed at idle. Even turned idle screw all the way down to lowest idle position. I know I have a problem with this carb but what is the problem?? I took it off and inspected it backward and forward and cleaned it and it has new gaskets. Im about to purchase a new carb, but my question is will this one bad carb be causing the motor to kill when put in gear and run poorly like this??? Ive been chasing this problem for almost a year and I feel I am just throwing parts and prayin!! All I want for christmas is my motor to work!!!

Re: CARB problem??

Did you remove and manually clean the high speed jet?

The small brass off center feed tube that is inside the larger brass high speed nozzle..... did you make sure that it is clean and in no way restricted?

yes the jets are perfectly clean. I think I have an air leak or fuel restriction problem, but the carb looks great to me. And I know its that one carb because I moved it to another cylinder and it followed the carb. Guess Ill buy a new one.

Check and clean all your re-circulating check valves and inspect all relevant hoses for leaks. This issue you mentioned can be related to leaks on the choke system. Check your choke for visible signs of leaks, disconnect and inspect the hoses, double check the fuel manifold if its cracked or loose connection. Use the correct snapper clamp or zip ties.

Overrevving like that is usually symptomatic of a weak mixture. Low fuel level, air leak, blocked jet or similar. The effect of your covering the intake indicates that.
