Carb Question (mid-80's 115hp 6-cyl)

As I was laying everything up for the winter, I noticed 2 of the 3 carbs had a cracked tube (flexible rubber). Not knowing what this tube is for, I replaced them, and figured I'd look it up in the book. Unfortunately, I can't find it in the book (the pics show the tubes, but no explaination).<br /><br />Here's a picture, with the tube shown in color. <br />

I am going to take a guess, and say it is the vapor recovery tube for the float bowl. :confused:

Wow, you guys are quick! <br /><br />That's kind of what I thought as well, but I was hoping that it was part of the enricher circuit - those 'towers' don't like cold starts!<br /><br />Thanks again!

Mercury calls that hose an economizer hose,thats according to their parts catalog for an 85 Merc carb.I wish I knew what that meant but thats the technical name for that hose......

Mercury put that hose there to help with midrange fuel economy.<br /><br />TMD
