carb question ??

I have a 78 srv200 sea ray , i would like to put a new carb on it , but the boat is 4 hours from me and i have no idea what is on it now or what i should put on it , boat has a 305 chevy (989) in it now , can somebody help me out ?? i would like to buy the carb and take it with me next week and slap it on .<br /><br />any help ??<br />Thanks

hessel,I've got the 898 merc in my'79 SRV220 and it takes the Rochester 2 barrell with electric choke ( not the Mercarb)I replaced the carb 2 seasons ago and bought a kit to rebuild the original.I Just put the original back on and bought a kit for the newer carb.Would suggest you do the same.
