Old boat and wasn't running the best so I decided to get the carb rebuilt. Took it out on the water after the carb was rebuilt. Wanted to fiddle with the idle screws. So I got her going as well as she can for an old boat after setting the idle screws. Drove it around for another 30 min then took it back to the dock. The next day I started it up and as I pulled out of the marina there was black smoke coming from the engine. Not a thick black cloud but black smoke non the less. SO when I got out in the open water I put the throttle forward and it got up on plane and then it just stalled. Started up and more black smoke. So back to marina.

So.. Why would it be running good the night before? Why black smoke the next day? Why stall? What can I do.
Maybe my idle screw turning was incorrect.

Please Help.

Sounds like it is flooding. Either the choke is closed or the float is stuck or set to high.
