Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
The Tillotsen WB carbs are all almost dirt simple. There are only a very few minor variations. The only replaceable parts are the cork bowl gasket, the inlet needle, the seat, the float, and the two sealing gaskets for the bottom bowl nut. There are other parts like jets, butterflies, venturis, and shafts but you would not normally replace them unless damaged
In reality, I have never replaced anything except for the cork gasket when cleaning even the crappiest carbs. Although you would expect them to wear, the rubber tipped inlet needles always seem to be ok and the plain needles always seem to have no wear either. Same thing with the seats and floats. --Never had a bad one--either brass or composite type. Maybe I've been very lucky--But I'll take luck over skill anytime. I have also never needed to replace a low speed adjusting needle.
So: Clean them out and if nothing is worn, just put them back together. By the way: I like to use WD40 to clean them. It dissolves most varnish almost immediately and stubborn spots only take a little scrubbing. Clean the larger passages with a pipe cleaner soaked in it, and carefully rod out the very small metering holes with a fine soft wire. Be careful not to enlarge these holes as they are truly meters and control the flow af gasoline at various speeds. Blow some WD through passages using the red plastic tube that comes taped to the can.
The small rod that holds the float is knurled on one end so you need to push it out that side. If you should remove the butterflies, be aware that they are beveled on each side so they seal tight against the carb casting. Mark them or examine them till satisfied you can see the orientation in the carb before removing. There is only one correct way to reassemble them.
If you absolutely just can not live without replacing something, try franzmarine.com over at The Chrysler Crew. Franz Buddenberg may be a bit pricey, but in all likelyhood he will have what you want. You can also try some old outboard sites.
