I have my OEM manual in hand, BRP kits and started to take apart my carbs....

Start of last summer I had a lean sneeze, ruff idle on the orig carbs. I know it was carbs as I quickly swapped them out with my 1989 90hp parts motor. It ran and idled great, so I actually left them in all fishing season! These were 3/16 vs the original 5/16 throats taken off. Motor ran nice.

Now, I want to get the larger/original 5/16 back on. I've taken apart the orig carbs, pretty simple. I've run wires thru all the orafices, jets and passages. I have not put anything back together yet.

My oem kits have some red large plastic washers, not sure what they are, not in manual. There really isnt alot in these carbs, do I have to take out the "bb" lead shot, and the circular disk? Whats in there actually?

I'm surprised these made the motor idle crappy, as they appear pretty clean so far. They do have the plastic bowls but I've verified they are not warped.

Only issue I saw was the needle valve tip had 1 or 2 circular slightly indented lines around it, near the tip? Is that my issue?

Thoughts for a carb virgin?

thanks

These kits have all sorts of extras in them for some older versions of this style carb. As far as the needle problem, that probable was not the issue. Most likely a piece of trash somewhere that you did not see during cleaning.

What is a good method to remove the lead shot "BB"? Been trying to pry with a sharp tipped pocket knife, just eating away at it? Is there a better effective way?

thanks
