I have a 1975 evinrude 40hp engine. I took it out for a test run since it had been sitting for 20 years. It ran ok but when you got the throttle all the way open you had to put the choke on to keep it from dieing. So I decided to buy a carb rebuild kit to see if cleaning and rebuilding the carb will solve my problem. Does anyone have any tips or tricks.
Thanks

go here, clik parts and look up your motor, and carbs.

besure to clean # 30 that is the high speed jet. also you need to do the water pump kit, no point in burning it up, on the first run, you were extremely lucky before. you will need a narrow screw driver, heres a sample. i made mine with a belt sander.
