Carb. rebuild

Does it matter whether I get my marine carb. rebuilt by a car mechanic shop or a marine mechanic shop?

I dont think it matters, but be sure they know its a marine carb and make sure the "proper" kit is used. Kits are ordered by the number on the carb,

Wrong kit, can have a wrong gasket that may fit, but cause problems,

Brand name kits, Mercruiser, VP, Holley etc.. will usually have better contents and proper replacement parts.

Carb kits are ordered by the model number of the carb which is stamped into it. Auto or marine tech doing it doesn't matter.
