carb rebuild

omc 3.0 off an 88 doral

rebuilt carb and when I tried to fire it up i got nothing but the venturi spitting gas like mad

any suggestions?

Float, not set correctly, Inlet seat and needle either leaking or missing gasket, heavy float

Or a tiny piece of debris holding the needle off the seat. Remove the carb again and hold it upside down. Try blowing thru the fuel inlet, you should not be able to if the needle valve is really sealing off the fuel inlet.
The carb should be a Rochester 2bbl with auto choke.
