carb? reed? whats the problem?

I have an older Suzuki 6hp. the carb is brand new. i pulled the reeds and they looked fine in my non-mechanic opinion. the engine runs when it is choked half way but dies when it is not choked. it must be something simple. any ideas? thanks!

Sounds like fuel restiction and running to lean. Check your fuel lines for free flow. Also, are you sure the carb is adjusted correctly? Might be just a setting on the carb is wrong. Do you have your manual? Should tell you how to set all of the jet, mix and idle screws...
