just recently started rebuilding the carb in my 83 mercruiser 140 carb #1389-8490 i downloaded the mercruiser manual offlline and i also have the paper that came with the rebuild kit.the problem im having is the paper that came with the carb kit says the float drop level should be 27 mm but the mercruiser manual says 44.5 mm(manual 3)and 32mm from (manual 10),also im using the spring loaded needle set and the paper says 14mm for the float level, and the manual says15.8mm(manual 3)for the float level..also the carb kit i bought is a 18-7097 which is where im getting the "non-manual"specs.so i would just like to know which specs i should use for the best performance.

Re: carb specs

I would use the merc manual, with the thought that merc knows what the motor needs that the carb is on.

Why are you using manual #10? The manual for your engine is #3. I have attached the spec sheet from that manual....

Re: carb specs

yeah i was just a little worried because 44.5 mm just seemed like a big drop for the float but your right merc. specs are probably the best to go by.i appreciate it
