Hi Joe Reeves have you work on any 1999 ficht 115 engines i have a carbon problem that my dealer saids is normal the plugs are always black as coal no way will they last 100 hrs like my manual states the motor was updated once that was for a bad miss in the midrange and added some new parts and a new design plug i have the diagnostic software for my laptop i don't see anything that is wrong other than a slight miss at idle i did a compression test all cyl. at 150 i also did the cyl. dropout test number 3 cyl loss 100 rpm less then the other cyl. not sure why

The older FICHTS normally run with black powerdery plugs. Just make sure they are gapped .028-.030" for best running.

Prop the boat to get around 5800 rpm. The Champion QC12PEP plugs seem to work better in the '98 and '99 V4's than the 7712's. Use FICHT oil for best results. If one plug has a hard crusty buildup of carbon on the ceramic, there may be a leaking diaphragm in the oil pump or fuel pump.

the plug that is in there now is a 7712 which is the plug they put in after they updated the motor but they did not replace the heads i think the QC12PEP was the plug that i frist had in there so should i go back to that plug?? does NGK have a plug for this motor (1999 Ficht 115) as for as the carbon buildup i do get that after trolling my dealer saids it's the way the motor is i don't know what to believe anymore i do hear ficht motors have a lot of problems thanks
