carbs acting funny

Have 84 Johnson 70 hp .. the top carb has a lot of gas coming out ,of the high speed choke valve. I don't think its normal.. :facepalm:

There is no high speed choke valve so it is tough to determine what you are describing. Regardless, fuel should not run out of the carb anywhere. The float and/or needle and seat are not functioning so you need to disassemble the carb and see what's up.

sorry meant the needle.... Took the carbs apart . looks like the screws all 4 were loose on the bottom of the carbs . The gaskets were replaced a yr ago .. On all the carbs, top one the worse, screws on the bottom were all loose!!! was getting air threw the gasket seals.... Should I use locktite on these screws to keep them tight? looks like they loosen up over time .. were tight before . did they have locktite in the 80s? lol

I have never used locktite on the bowel screws, never had any problems.

either have I , but again the screws loosen up over time. Tighten them as much as I can .this will be the second time ,after about 20 hrs of runnin ......The screws are not striptrd. I just think that once the seal was cracked on those gaskets . To replace the old cork ones with the new plastic ones . The screws now just loosen up over time from vibration or something ....That's my guess....................
