Hi All:

In troubleshooting another issue, I discovered that my carbs appear to be leaking fuel when the motor is running. I can see it seeping out and collecting on the carb bodies, although I can't see exactly where it's coming from.

It's not so bad that fuel is collecting in the motor housing and dripping out, but there is a sheen of fuel covering most stuff in the vicinity of the carbs. The motor seems to start and run normally.

I'm supposed to take the boat on a trip for a week this Friday, but this has me concerned. I assume I need to rebuild the carbs, but can't get it done before I leave.

Should I just leave the boat behind, or are leaking carbs not that big of a deal until they get really bad.

I've had the boat since new and have never done anything with the carbs.

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm pretty certain it's fuel. I used a Q-Tip as it seeped out and it's black and smells like gas.

One area that is well known for leaking on those motors is the area on the bowl where that "BB' is. Fuel always seems to weep out past the BB. As a standard part of a carb rebuild, epoxy is used to stop the weep. The trick is that the area has to be super clean and dry. Remember, any fuel leaking out has oil in it.
