Carburator problems?

I have a 1988 Force 125HP motor. It runs good at about 4000RPM, but when I run it above that, it thens to skip every so often. I've just had the carburators cleaned. Could this be the carburators, if yes what could be wrong with them?
If not the carburators, what else could be wrong?

It may be a spark plug dropping out. It does sound like an ignition problem. Have you changed the spark plugs lately? It could be a weak coil too.

Good Luck :)

Down South,
Just put new plugs in it about 2 weeks ago.
It doesn't seem to cut out at 4000rpms of lower.
Could this still be in the ignition?

Did you have this problem before you cleaned the carbs? If it's not missing below 4000 rpm it could be either fuel or fire. How often is the miss and how bad. Is it a constant miss above 4000rpm?

Down South,
The miss is not constant, but at different times. It's not a bad miss.

Fisher, A problem that is sporadic is hard to diagnose especially across the internet. It doesn't sound serious. It may be something as simple as a spark plug wire going bad. I take it that your motor is still achieving full rpm at WOT. I think that I would concentrate on the ignition system. Spark plug, Plug wire or weak coil.

Good luck :)
