Make life simple. Think of those things as faucets. Turning it to the left opens it (more fuel flow--richer), turning it to the right shuts down the fuel flow (less fuel--leaner)

The goal is to set them as lean as you can without losing power. If it starts to lose power from being too lean, turn it back to the left enough to regain full power. You can hear it. If too lean on slow speed, it usually will sneeze & quit.

Beginning point: 1/1/2 turns on slow speed, 3/4 turn on HS.

ok obviously i should have my gear in neutral should i have my throttle all the way down or wot for slow speed to have it sit idle and for high speed can i have it on ear muffs to adjust it or do i need that on the water to make the correct adjustments?

Boat must be in the water and in gear.---First adjust high speed ( bottom needle ) at full throttle.-------Then idle the motor down and adjust the low speed needle.

Agreed, it is impossible to adjust the high speed on muffs. It must be on a boat, on the lake, in gear, wide open throttle. Um.....you will obviously need a driver at the controls while you are back there messing with it. Be safe, that thing will go fast enough to kill.
