I have a 1972 6hp Johnson outboard and I took the carburetor off the clean it and once I put it back on, it was leaking from a hole on the top. Any reason why it’s be doing that? 221968F4-765C-4C7A-AD99-64B6A7BD90DF.jpeg

Issues with the float or float valve.-----Needs to come apart once more.----I doubt that fuel can leak through the low speed mixture needle !

that hole is a carb vent to let air in or out as the float allows fuel to enter
and when the fuel gets sucked in the engine.

if fuel comes out the float/inlet needle is not doing it's job

Sounds like you need to start over.
The float needle is likely stuck open or not adjusted properly.

Try draining the Fuel Bowl and refill it. Also, try tapping the Carb Body with a small wrench where squeezing the primer Bulb, and see if that stops the overflow.
