I have a 89 Bayliner with an OMC 2.3 4cyl. The carburetor is shot. right now it has a 2 jet Rochester. I was told that this is'nt the right Carburetor for the motor. ( It was on it when i bought it) However the boat was running when i bought it but seemed to be sluggish. I was wondering if this the correct carb. if it is worth rebuilding or if i should just get a new one. If it is replaced any suggestions on what i should replace it with, with out putting a pile of cash into it. Thanks for any help.

Re: Carburetor replacement ??

Bones138, some ford engines did come with Rochester carbs, but without lookin up some #'s its a crap shoot to being the right unit or not.
If it is in good physical condition it might be worth rebuilding. A common prob. with those is a worn throttle shaft, and those can be replaced or repaired. Rebuild kit is about 20 bucks!
