Gentlemen, I have a 21ft. Hammond Mark 1 Challenger with a Mercruiser 260 GM 350cu.inch V8 (1982 ? 1986) 5.7 ltr.

I had the engine rebuilt about a year ago. It is fitted with a 4 Barrel Holley and my mechanic has suggested the Carb is now suffering from terminal fuel dyslexia. Long story short it needs replacing and I would welcome all opinions whether to replace it with a Rochester or Weber or other. I see little point in another Holley in that this is a pleasure boat and whilst it goes like ka ka off a shovel (Brit expression) I see little point in the additional price of a Holley and especially in the light of a previous posters comments re Holleys catching fire. I'm assuming that any suggested marine carbs will have a closed vent system?

I would be eternally grateful for your wise counsel. Many thanks, George

Those boats or awesome! Post pictures if you can!

Can you post pictures of your holley throttle linkage set up also?
I think your asking a loaded question though on what brand carb. Its going to be like a Ford vs Chevy conversation.

As I mentioned in your original post, the Edelbrock 1409 is generally the best fit for your boat. It's a marine carb and is jetted to be plug-n-play with a 350cu in. block. Found easily on eBay or from automotive/marine parts stores. I have one on my 351, and it is about as simple to install/set up as could be.

Thanks Haulnazz, appreciate your recommendation, just trying to get a body of opinion and to determine if I can get the Edelbrock locally, given I live in the Middle East...so parts are nearly always an issue.
