carpet glue removal?

I've got new carpet but am curious as to the best way to get the old stuff and it's adhesive off?

i just pulled mine off and wire brushed off the lose glue. then i glued over it and had no problems get good glue though and follow the directions as far as how thick the glue should be applyed

Is contact cement OK or regular carpet glue?Is there a marine type glue for this application?

just my input.......my buddy and i just did our boat and used a elec sander with some aggresive grit,<br /> all the <br />"left over sh%t" just came off,went to home depot bought some outdoor carpet adhesive work out <br /> great the old girl looks brand new!!!<br /> <br /> *** 1971 18' winner 1969 115 jonny ***

I agree use an electric sander and some sand paper then to re-glue the carpet this stuff works great Contact cement

I used a putty knife, you know the wide ones. Scraped what I could off, then followed with orbital sander with 80 grit, very lightly, most of the old stuff scraped off, not alot of sanding needed.
