I am starting to replace the carpeting, wood seating, and floor decking in my 1988 Lund 14' boat. I have the marine grade plywood, glue, and carpet, but the glue can states that it will not work if placed over a sealer. My question is: Does the marine grade plywood need to be sealed? I was told to use MinWax marine spar sealer, but that has not been applied to any of the wood yet. Supposedly, this sealer will let wood breath, but also prevent excessive moisture penetration. Are there any opinions about the sealer and glue conflict and what might be the best way to go about this? Thanks for your replies.

Re: Carpet Glue & Wood Sealer

You should seal the ply top, bottom, end grain, edge grain, and all holes. This is
best done with glass cloth and epoxy resin. I suggest finding a carpet adhesive
compatible with whatever sealing material you use. GH
