I want to carpet my old runabout, but I don't know if or how the boat was originally carpeted. Should I carpet only the bottom (inside, of course) or should I carpet sides, too? (again, inside)

if the sides are exposed, you'll have to finish them in some way. I'm running carpet all the way up to the gunwales in my 16' bowrider.

I did my old chris 210 the same way. got some carpet from home depot 12 feet wide 12 feet long and put it in one piece gunwale to gunwale. no seams and its waterproof for a while, until the rubber backing rots away.. :D :D

Carpet gets wet, dirty, faded, smelly, etc. etc. When I rebuilt my Formula I ripped up every stitch of carpet out, including the cuddy, under the gunwales, etc., prepped and painted for a clean, easy to maintain surface.
