I brought my In-law's Carver 250 Mid Cabin Cruiser out of winterization today. It has the Mercruiser 7.4 Liter 454. The engine started without any problem and idled very well. Thinking that this was the first time the boat had been ran in several months, I decided that I should open the hatch and make sure everything was looking ok as it warmed up. As I watched it, I noticed a small trickle of water coming from the thermostat housing area. I had just started the engine and it wasn't even close to operating temp.
I have a lot more experience with simple open bows as opposed to cruisers so maybe you guys can help with this. It appeared that there was a small hose, (maybe .5 inches I.D), that runs from the thermostat housing to the hot water heater. the water has a very steady leak / stream from where the brass fitting threads into the engine block or somewhere in this area. I checked the hose clamp and it is secure. What would you all check first?
A marine service company unwinterized it a few days prior which was worthless because they couldn't get the engine to turn over. (didn't turn the battery switch on
Thanks in advance for the replies.
