Presently our phone numbers are on the National Do Not Call List. Apparently they don't know this. I finally have caller ID hooked up and it shows a bunch that is calling.

I'm just curious on what I have to do as for information to cash in on them not following the NDNCL. Is there a form? Where or who do I get in contact with? A few bucks from them would be nice for the up coming Christmas holidays.

Re: Cashing in on Telemarketers

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Govt. and not you collect the fines and keep the money. Could be wrong about that.
I do know it's a big hassle to warn, document, and still receive a call. I do like to threaten them. My unwanted calls have decresed to zero.
I also like to respond with "Can you hold on for a moment?" I then go and get my compressed air boat horn and blow it into the phone mouthpiece. Sorry, but I hate telemarketers. :D :D

There are loop holes... just like anything created by our ever watchful government.

IF you have given your name and number to anyone for any purpose, that gives that person or organization an out. They can contact you regarding past or even unrelated business. The DO-NOT-CALL list is only to prevent your name appearing on mass lists that used to be bought and sold by all sorts of organizations and persons.

KaGee is so right! In my past life I developed software for MCI telemarketing division. We purchased all kinds of lists including telephone data (which had to be run against the DNC file); data from Visa, MC, Auto Insurance, magazine list, etc. Could be used as is.

When a complaint came about calling someone on the DNC list we had to prove it came from a valid source. They took it very serious!

I left in '94, but I don't think they do much TM now.

If you're in a good mood, get their info, direct them to place you on their company's do-not-call list, then politely hang up.

If you aren't, just ask them to hold on a minute and then put the phone down and walk away without hanging up. Time is money for these people, the more of it you can waste the better.

When I have time to listen to their $#!+ I will, and possiably even ask questoins. After tying them up for a while, Ill tell them, "Well, you should have known I wouldnt be interested. Their typical reply is usually "Why?...or...How would I have known that? Then I reply "Because I didnt call YOU!!! Then I "CLICK-EM" :D

I will engage them in a conversation and then I will try to sell them a new boat, When they start to back out I will offer to buy one of their products if they buy a new boat.
No takers to this point but maybe someday.
