Cat 3128 Injector setting

Ive got twin 3128 in a boat and Ive been told the injectors need setting .How difficult is it to do this and what tools are required ?

Can you confirm the model number? CAT never had a 3128. There are 3208s, and 3126's, and they are VERY different.

Roger, I thought so, but was too close to the others.

Well . . . here's the deal. I believe all 3126s have Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injectors (HEUI). Here is a good link if you really want to understand them: http://dieselclass.com/Fuels Files/HEUI 1-08.pdf

They really do not have any user capable adjustments or "setting". What is it that is causing your concern? Is there anything bad happening? Or are you simply concerned about maintenance?

there was a 3126 mechanical marine engine - basically a bored out 3116
and it was all mechanical linkage - need a dealer to do the snychronization and timing and fuel setting.. nothing DIY about it. Tools would run you about $4000 and best to get some professional hands-on training on their use.
Fly me to the Cayman Islands around December...and I'll bring the tooling.
need the serial number prefix to say for sure what version of 3126 it is
