ANYBODY HAVE A GLACIERBAY CATEMERAN, OR ANY OTHER POWERBOAT CATEMERAN. THINKING OF BUYING A 22' GLACIERBAY CATEMERAN, BUT HAVE HAD V HAULS ALL OF MY LIFE. ANY COMMENTS FROM ANYONE WHO HAS HAD BOTH.

Re: CATEMERAN POWERBOAT

I have a 31' cat that was built in 1978. It is a much heavier and wider boat(14'wide) than anything new today but the dynamics should be the same. I love the stability of twin hulls. It will take rough water especially choppy water a lot better than a v-hull and less boat in the water means less friction and better fuel consumption. Your motors are mounted wider apart which allows you to turn on a dime. Think "Twin Screws".
If you take a high speed turn in one you will understand what a difference two hulls make.
Good luck!

Is there any drawbacks that you can think of. I am going to get twin engines.

Re: CATEMERAN POWERBOAT

Don't know much about performance cats, but having studied that website, I am surprised that they are not faster with all that power on tap.

Single hulls with the same length - although with a narrower overall beam - will outpace them.

As for their relative seakeeping qualities, I'm in no position to comment, except to say that there are good and bad V-hulls, so presumably there will also be good and bad cats.

Kinda specialist area really. Plenty of websites on fast cats, if you do a Google.
