Catfish Noodling

This has been a topic before and there seemed to be considerable interest in it, so: Saw a show on PBS last night titled "Okie Noodling" and it was really interesting and well done. Some real down-home characters appeared in this documentary about noodling catfish in Oklahoma. It's worth being on the lookout for and watching if it's shown in your area. Maybe this should have gone in "Fishing", but according to the Okies in the show, "It ain't fishin".

Yea Jack, it ain't fishn, it's noodln.<br />This ol' fat man has been known to stick his hand/arm under a creek bank or two.

Well, SBN, I've seen your picture and most of the guys doing the noodling looked a lot like you. You got any Okie relatives? I don't believe I'd stick my hand up under a cut bank or in a hole. Afraid I'd grab a moccasin or a snapping turtle. Those 40 lb cats look like they could keep you under if they got wedged just right, too.

It is about out of season for it. have a picture of a 35LB flathead will try and post it.<br /><br />this is a great sport to get into, ya should try it.

Good fishing pics, wikelam. Did you noodle that 69 lb cat? I thought we had some big cats down here, but the biggest I've ever personally seen was a 50 lb caught in a commercial hoop net. Didn't realize Oklahoma had such big ones.
