I've read several of the cavitation posts. The one about the level of the plates to the keel is the one bothering me. Can someone please tell me if you think the height of my prop is ok or does it need to be deeper? I am on my way out now to see if the hub is spun. I marked it as instructed. prop.jpg

Your AV(cavitation)plate needs to be about even with the boat bottom. That looks like a 15" motor on a 20" transom. Or do you just have it jacked up that high?

That height looks like you are in danger of disrupting cooling water flow. It's several inches too high.

Thanks all. I had a feeling it was too high. Unfortunately, it's down flush with the transom. Guess it's time to get a cuttin! I have some room. I can lower by several inches. I gonna take it down so the plates are even with the keel?? Yes?

That is correct. Measure the height of the transom. I bet it's 20 inches. Measure down from the motor's mount to the AV plate. It should be about 15 inches.

Do you have a pic of your entire transom? Might be prudent to let the experts here take a look at what you're dealing with BEFORE you start cutting.
