I have a 1648 aluminum boat. My outboards cavitation plate is a little higher than it should be. I ran it today and i was blowing out the prop at 1/4 throttle. Will a jackplate help me?

Are you sure that your rubber prop hub isn't slipping??

It would nearly plane out before blowing the prop. I really think the motor is too high. Maybe a jackplate

Can the engine be lowered a hole?

I would still check the prop first. All you need to do is mark the inner andd outer hubs and run it to see if the prop is slipping.

You don't say what engine you have but most have multiple mounting holes and it is pretty easy to lower the engine, I woud try that before sinking $500 bucks in a jack plate.
